Guitar is a very powerful musical tool that has revolutionized the world of music drastically over the last couple of years. And buying such a powerful music instrument can be a daunting task especially if you are a fledging guitarist just entering the world of music. Quite simply there are so many options to choose from. Then what about when you finally buy your first guitar? There is a plethora of things to learn, feel, and of course enjoy. And to help you use your guitar much better, there are number of things you can use. Well in this article, I will be describing some major things every guitarist should have, some key information about those items and of course some recommendations. So let’s get started…

Guitar Tuner

One of the essential tools until you learn how to tune by ear, the guitar tuner will tune your strings with ease. A digital tuner is recommended with a microphone and a display. Most tuners come with an input for electric guitar for precise tuning.

Some good brands:

Korg GA-30 Ultra Compact Guitar and Bass Tuner (most recommended).

Digital Metronome

This handy little gadget will help with your timing. Metronomes have adjustable tempos and a digital meter for ease of use. This is one of the most recommended tools for beginner guitarists.

Some good brands:

Capo

This little contraption is great for a number of things. Capo is mainly used for changing the pitch of your guitar to match with the voice of an accompanying singer. You simply clasp on the capo on the preferred fret to change the pitch. You can also use the capo to change the key of something you might be playing without tuning your guitar. In addition to this a capo can make the guitar easier to play. For example with the capo you can avoid barre chords and it brings the string more closer to fret board making it easier to play songs. When picking a capo, there are several variations to choose from. There is a spring-loaded capo that can be easily moved around and clasped/unclasped. You can also buy old screw type capo (mainly used with classical guitars).

Some good brands:

Kyser Quick Change Guitar Capo.

Dunlop Trigger Curved Guitar Capo

Acoustic Guitar Pickup

Ever wanted to play your guitar on an amplifier with effects or maybe you just want to have a louder sound? Either way you can use an acoustic guitar pickup. Using this won’t require any changes to your guitar; you just clasp the pickup over your sound hole.
